This week is National Library Week! We are so fortunate to have two of the best librarians to take care of our staff and students. Mrs. Class has been with the district since 2017, while Mrs. Simpson has been at Harrisburg since the 2000-2001 school year. These two ladies spend countless hours ensuring that our libraries are a welcoming place for students, while also making sure that each library is stocked with the most popular books and other resources. They go above and beyond to meet the needs of all of our staff and students. Regarding Mrs. Class, Mr. Wardrip said, “Mrs. Class is a tremendous asset to our ELMS library. She is always finding ways to get our middle school students time to visit the library so she can put a book in their hands.” Mr. Burris added, “Toby is a wonderful library media specialist. She is constantly looking for ways to involve our students in programs outside of the school, whether it is contests through the Missouri Department of Conservation, Daniel Boone Regional Library, or encouraging students to read Mark Twain Award book nominees. We are also thankful that she organizes and hosts our elementary spelling bee. She loves exposing our preschoolers to good books every Friday morning. Toby also puts together several book fairs for students each year. Students look forward to picking out their favorite series, or finding new books. On Mrs. Simpson, Mr. Fisher said, “Our high school staff and students are incredibly fortunate to have Mrs. Simpson as our high school librarian. The library is among the favorite places in the high school for students to go, and it is because Mrs. Simpson has made it that way. She always has puzzles for students to work on or different contests for students to participate in. Whether it be a broken projector, needing help with setting up a Google Form, or utilizing her to co-teach a class, she is always there to help with whatever our staff needs. She is truly one of the best educators I have ever been around.” Mr. Combs added, “Our two librarians are a huge asset to our district. They are always finding new and creative ways to make our libraries better and give our students a better experience.” Thank you Mrs. Class and Mrs. Simpson for your tireless dedication to the Harrisburg School District. Our students, staff, and community are lucky to have you!
