ELEMENTARY & MIDDLE SCHOOL BULLDOGS: It's almost time to run into Thanksgiving during the 8th Annual Turkey Trot 1K Fun Run on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at the HHS track. The top three finishers in each of the grade divisions will medal and there will be outdoor fun for all. To add to the fun we’ll have Walnut & Twine back on site offering special prices on their delicious mini muffins, rice krispy treats, and hot cocoa. First graders learned about the importance of Veterans Day on Friday. We read books, watched a video, and did some writing about what freedoms we are thankful for. Many made connections to family members who have served or are currently serving. They are excited to play a part in honoring our veterans by singing songs at the assembly today and now they understand a little better why we will be doing this. ❤️🤍💙

November 8th was National Parents As Teachers Day and the Harrisburg R-VIII School District PAT Program, under the leadership of Mrs. Byrd, sets the standard for programming excellence by supporting the families of our youngest students. From coordinating services, providing resources, planning educational events, and leading our Parents As Teachers Advisory Committee, Mrs. Byrd along with Parent Coordinator, Emily Furlong, actively serve as a bridge between families with young children, our school district, and essential community resources.
Before becoming our PAT Coordinator eight years ago, Dana worked for twelve years as a Child Welfare Social Worker in the state of Pennsylvania. She recently completed the credential requirements in home visiting for PAT.
A fun fact about Mrs. Byrd is that she loves to travel and recently took a trip to Italy.
