Students in Dr. Weathers' Spanish 1 learned about the customs associated with Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos), which is celebrated beginning on the evening of October 31 (going to the market to get needed items, cleaning off graves of loved ones) and continues on November 1 (celebrating those who passed when they were children) and November 2 (celebrating those who died as adults). One of the traditions involves constructing an altar for a family member and one of the items that may decorate the altar is a sugar skull (calaverita de azúcar). Made from a mixture of sugar, meringue powder and water, then molded into halves, the sugar pieces are "glued" together with royal icing and then decorated. Students also made paper cutout banners (papel picado) and paper flowers (las flores de papel). The sugar skulls will be on display at this year's MusArt celebration in Spring 2025.

For all sub-varsity basketball games at Harrisburg High School, we will only have one admission gate located at the main entrance of the HS.
Doors located on the south side of the building will be unlocked for entrance.
Doors on the north side between the football field and the gym will be locked with no gate.
