SCHOOL CALENDAR UPDATE: Due to minimal weather-related cancellations this winter, we were able to make a couple of calendar adjustments while still meeting all Missouri DESE instructional hour requirements.
The Book Fair is open tonight from 5:30-7:15 pm. Please use the middle school doors to enter the building.

TEACHER FEATURE TUESDAY: Today’s featured teacher is Mrs. Samantha Carey. Mrs. Carey has been an educator for fifteen years. She began her teaching career in the Centralia School District before returning home to her alma mater as a first grade teacher at Harrisburg Elementary nine years ago.
Samantha shared the following about her career inspiration and the 2025-26 school year.
“I always wanted to be a teacher since I had Mrs. Eaton as my own first grade teacher and thought she was amazing. Also a certain wonderful middle school social studies teacher whom I adored, inspired me. My undergrad was done at CMU, Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with the Teaching Fellowship at MU, Wizard of Oz fanatic, big family with lots of siblings, reading and sharing books with the first graders is my favorite thing about my job, I love music and concerts, I hosted a student teacher this fall from CMU her name is Madison Eames and the students have loved her! We don't know what we will do when she leaves.”
In addition to inspiring her students in the classroom everyday, Mrs. Carey also serves on numerous district and building committees including the K-2 Professional Learning Committee team, Elementary Carnival Committee, Elementary Literacy Committee, and the Teachers Leading Teachers Team.
When asked to share the impact that Mrs. Carey has on the students, staff, and culture at Harrisburg, Stephanie Harrison summed it up beautifully when she shared:
“Samantha is an exceptionally patient and caring teacher. She has created a classroom environment where students feel loved, safe and valued. Her dedication and devotion to her students are evident in their love for learning. Samantha is also a dependable support to her coworkers and friends. She truly gives her all to the Harrisburg School District in the many roles and responsibilities she has.”

March 7, 2026 is School Maintenance Appreciation Day and we are blessed with the best. The admin team had this to say about our crew: “Our maintenance team is the best around. Each of them truly cares about making Harrisburg the best possible school for our students, and that really shows in their work ethic every single day. We appreciate the flexibility, effort and craftsmanship our maintenance team puts into our buildings and facilities. They have a wide variety of skills that not only help keep our schools functioning, but in top condition. Matt, Rob, Clark, & Shannon thank you for all you do for our students, teachers, and community.” We also want to give a big shoutout to our 2025-26 high school staff who will keep our grounds looking great through the summer mowing season and to Ryder Crites who has worked tirelessly alongside our maintenance staff this school year to keep our district facilities in top-notch shape.. #BulldawgPride

TEACHER FEATURE TUESDAY: Today’s featured teacher is Mr. Caiden Webb. Mr. Webb has been in education for the past seven years. In 2018-19 he completed his student teaching internship with Mr. Ackman at Harrisburg High and, after teaching middle school in rural Central Illinois for five years, returned to Harrisburg as part-time dual credit faculty in 2024.
Mr. Webb currently teaches dual credit American History and dual credit World Geography to juniors and seniors.
In addition to his role at Harrisburg, he is a full time PhD student at the University of Missouri. His research interests include: asset-based research in rural education, rural teacher education, and social studies teacher education.
We asked a few of his dual credit students to provide a shout-out to Mr. Webb for this week’s post. Here’s what they had to say:
“I liked how Mr. Webb cared about all of our different personalities in the class and was interactive with all of us and wanted to help us chase our dreams for the future.”
“I have too much potential to die.” - one of my top 10 favorite quotes from Mr. Webb
